We are part of a Local Ecumenical Partnership

Since 1986 we have had a formal Ecumenical Partnership with St Berteline's Anglican Church serving the Parish of Norton which we share. From the very beginning, Murdishaw Church has had members from many denominations, and many of our early members were Anglicans. When Chester Diocese built St Berteline's Church in Windmill Hill (to the north of Murdishaw), some of our members helped to establish a congregation  there and so we knew each other well. During the 1980's the Ministers and congregation decided to set up a sharing agreement, so that each denomination could minister to their members regardless of which building they worshipped in.

We are part of the Methodist Church.

There are 3 Methodist Ministers in Runcorn, and they cover 5 entirely Methodist Churches as well as having ministerial responsibility for 3 other congregations (including us). Thanks to the wide reach of ecumenical contacts in Runcorn, Methodists are at home in 4 other Churches as well.

For a long time, our minister has also been responsible for the much larger Methodist Congregation at Halton Trinity Church.

We are part of the Anglican Church.

Through being part of Norton Parish we are included in Frodsham Deanery. This covers all of Runcorn as well as Frodsham and the more rural areas of Delamere and Kingsley.

We are part of a Covenant Agreement

When we joined the Ecumenical Partnership we also signed a 3-way Covenant Agreement with St Berteline's and the Roman Catholic Church of St Martin de Porres. The three clergy meet regularly and are exploring ways of working together.

We are members of Churches Together in Runcorn
